As a Software Engineer II, you bring growing technical depth, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to take ownership of features and components across the product. You focus on building scalable, reliable systems, writing well-structured code, and contributing to solutions that deliver real customer value.

We are currently hiring Software Engineers II to join one of two teams within our Platform organization: Identity & Access Management (IAM) or API. The IAM team focuses on authentication, authorization, and access management, ensuring users can access only the resources and functionality they are permitted to use. One of the team’s key projects involves Keycloak, an open-source Identity and Access Management solution. The API team owns and improves the backend API layer that powers the Housecall Pro application, with a strong current focus on application performance and creating a fast, reliable user experience.

In this role, you will elevate team effectiveness by sharing knowledge, contributing to design and code reviews. Help shape technical standards and best practices that promote consistency, maintainability, and performance

2-5 yearsof professional software engineering experience

Proficiency in one or more programming languages, with a willingness to learn new ones as needed

Product-oriented thinking, motivated by building solutions that serve real customer needs

You’ll join a small and senior squad focused on cross-cutting search concerns, working closely with Product Platform teams, IAM, DevOps, and SRE. We value clear ownership, pragmatic engineering, and iterating in small, safe steps. You’ll have room to shape our long-term search strategy while shipping meaningful improvements.

Our primary technology stack at HCP is Ruby.To be effective in this role, you’ll need to learn it. We offer support in the learning process, tailored to your needs and any prior experience with Ruby. This may include mentoring from our experienced engineering team or access to a paid online course that you can complete during working hours as part of your onboarding. The exact form of support will be agreed upon based on insights from your selection process.
