Morgan Sindall is seeking a motivated and ambitious Bid Manager to join our team working on the Scottish Power, Harburn project, supporting the delivery of a diverse and exciting pipeline of schemes. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to further develop their bid management expertise while taking on increasing responsibility within a high‑performing team.
The role is responsible for the successful planning, coordination, and submission of bids to existing and prospective customers, ensuring all tenders are completed on time, within budget and to the highest standard. You will play a key role in positioning Morgan Sindall for success by delivering compelling, compliant, and high‑quality submissions that maximise our competitive advantage.
Role Responsibilities
Lead and manage all aspects of bid and tender delivery, providing expert leadership on major opportunities.
Develop and implement winning bid strategies, writing plans and costed bid programmes.
Coordinate bid teams and resources, securing approvals and ensuring timely, compliant submissions.
Manage risks, issues, dependencies, and capabilities required to deliver bids and subsequent contracts.
Guide and review technical and commercial bid content to ensure quality, accuracy, and consistency.
Maintain and develop standard bid content in line with Morgan Sindall processes and best practice.
Ensure estimating, risk, health and safety and work‑winning procedures are consistently applied.
Communicate bid strategies effectively with construction, pre‑contract, and stakeholder teams.
Lead tender presentations, negotiations, and involvement in the adjudication process.
Build strong, trusted relationships with customers, consultants, and partners.
Coach, develop and manage team members, driving performance, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Stay informed on industry trends, innovations, and personal professional development.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
Degree‑educated or equivalent in a relevant discipline; Chartered status (e.g. CEng) and professional body membership desirable
Proven senior‑level experience in work winning, including the successful delivery of major, profitable bids.
Demonstrated success in quality‑led bidding, with an innovative and creative approach.
Experience operating within large, complex organisations and influencing outcomes beyond own team.
Strong understanding of commercial principles, procurement models, terms, and conditions
Background in delivering major projects in an operational environment, ideally at Project Manager level.
Experience managing design processes during tender and contract stages.
Familiarity with joint ventures, alliances, or other collaborative delivery models
Excellent leadership and people skills, able to motivate and develop teams in a flat management structure.
Strong planning, organisation, and time‑management skills, managing multiple priorities without compromising quality.
Sound knowledge of construction practices, standards, and specifications, with specialist expertise in own discipline.
Collaborative, initiative-taking and adaptable, with the ability to contribute across business units.

About the Energy Business Unit
We have extensive experience in upgrading and replacing energy networks, delivering asset management for major UK energy companies and network operators.
Our transmission and distribution services involve the upgrading and replacement of electricity assets both above and below ground. Within the electricity sector we install and maintain assets, including excavation, laying, and jointing of cables, (fluid filled and XLPe), substations and overhead line, new build, repair, and refurbishment services.

Key Qualifications & Candidate Profile
- Relevant technical qualifications in Construction Management, Commercial Surveying, or relevant technical trade.
- Proven track record operating on UK construction sites or major infrastructure frameworks.
- Knowledge of UK health, safety, and environmental standards (CDM regulations, CSCS, IOSH/NEBOSH).
- Strong communication, team coordination, and problem-solving abilities.
Compensation & Benefits Guidance
Estimated Remuneration: GBP £45,000 - £65,000 per annum (competitive market rate commensurate with experience)
