Information Controller

Morgan Sindall Infrastructure is looking for an organised and proactive Information Controller to join our Energy Business Unit, supporting major transmission and distribution infrastructure programmes delivered on behalf of SP Energy Networks (SPEN) and Scottish & Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN).

These long-term framework programmes are helping to strengthen the UK's electricity network, supporting network resilience, decarbonisation and the transition to a low-carbon future. Working across projects from mobilisation and pre-construction through to delivery and final handover, you will play a vital role in ensuring project information is effectively controlled, managed and maintained throughout the project lifecycle.

As an Information Controller, you will work closely with project teams, clients and supply chain partners to ensure accurate, reliable and accessible project information is available when needed. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing Information Management function and contribute to the successful delivery of some of Scotland's most significant energy infrastructure projects while gaining exposure to industry-leading digital delivery and information management practices.

Role Responsibilities

Manage and maintain project information within Common Data Environments (CDEs) and document management systems.

Ensure project documentation, drawings, models and records are processed in accordance with agreed workflows, procedures and governance requirements.

Coordinate information exchanges between project teams, clients, designers and supply chain partners.

Support the implementation of information management standards, naming conventions and document quality requirements.

Monitor document status and facilitate timely reviews, approvals and submissions.

Produce reports, metrics and other information management outputs to support project compliance and performance monitoring.

Support project mobilisation activities, including system setup, access permissions and information governance requirements.

Assist with the preparation, compilation and transfer of project information during closeout and handover activities.

Maintain the quality, accuracy, accessibility and traceability of project information across multiple projects.

Work closely with Information Managers, Project Managers, Design Managers, Engineers and Construction Teams to support efficient project delivery.

Ensure information is managed in accordance with company procedures, project requirements and industry best practice.

Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Information Management function.

Support the adoption of digital delivery and information management processes across projects and programmes.

Essential

Experience in document control, information control, project administration or information management within construction, infrastructure, engineering, utilities or other project-based environments.

Experience managing controlled documentation and project information to support project delivery teams.

Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.

Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across project teams.

Experience using Common Data Environments (CDEs) or document management systems.

Good working knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams and SharePoint.

Understanding of document control processes, workflows and information management principles.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced project environment.

Proactive and collaborative approach with a strong focus on quality and continuous improvement.

Desirable

Experience within the energy, utilities, engineering or infrastructure sectors.

Experience using platforms such as Viewpoint for Projects, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), SharePoint or similar document management systems.

Understanding of metadata, information governance and digital information management practices.

Knowledge of ISO 19650 and information management standards.

Experience supporting project mobilisation, project delivery and handover processes.

An interest in digital construction, data management and information governance.

About the Energy Business Unit

We have extensive experience in upgrading and replacing energy networks, delivering asset management for major UK energy companies and network operators.

Our transmission and distribution services involve the upgrading and replacement of electricity assets both above and below ground. Within the electricity sector we install and maintain assets, including excavation, laying, and jointing of cables, (fluid filled and XLPe), substations and overhead line, new build, repair, and refurbishment services.

Key Qualifications & Candidate Profile

  • Relevant technical qualifications in Construction Management, Commercial Surveying, or relevant technical trade.
  • Proven track record operating on UK construction sites or major infrastructure frameworks.
  • Knowledge of UK health, safety, and environmental standards (CDM regulations, CSCS, IOSH/NEBOSH).
  • Strong communication, team coordination, and problem-solving abilities.

Compensation & Benefits Guidance

Estimated Remuneration: GBP £42,000 - £60,000 per annum (competitive market rate commensurate with experience)
