Are you an experienced construction professional looking to take the next step in your career? We are seeking a motivated and ambitious Planner to join our Planning Team, supporting the delivery of a diverse portfolio of projects across the YTL Wessex Water AMP8 Framework.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on a major infrastructure programme, developing your planning expertise within a highly experienced and supportive team. The role would suit either an established planner looking to broaden their experience or an experienced Site Agent/Project Manager seeking a transition into planning.
The Role
Reporting to the Planning Manager, you will provide planning support across both pre-construction and construction phases, helping to plan, programme and monitor multiple projects within the framework.
Working closely with both pre-construction and operational delivery teams, you will play a key role in ensuring projects are effectively planned, managed and delivered.
Key Responsibilities
Produce, manage and update pre-construction and construction programmes.
Support the communication of programme progress to internal and external stakeholders.
Assist in the management and assessment of programme change events.
Monitor critical paths, identify pinch points and challenge programme logic to improve performance and mitigate delays.
Develop fully logic-linked programmes covering design, permissions, procurement, construction and commissioning activities.
Integrate supply chain programmes into the master programme and monitor progress against baselines.
Contribute to risk management processes, identifying and communicating programme-related risks.
Support programme controls and reporting across multiple projects.
Essential
HND, Degree or Degree Apprenticeship in a relevant discipline.
Significant site-based experience in project management and programme controls.
Ability to develop construction programmes from first principles.
Experience working on multi-disciplinary civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to monitor performance and present outputs clearly.
Experience using planning software such as:
Primavera P6
Asta Powerproject
Microsoft Project
Understanding of how commercial events influence baseline programmes.
Experience recording programme changes and assessing their impact.
Desirable
Planning experience within the water, utilities or civil engineering sectors.
ICE Membership or working towards professional membership.
Knowledge of AMP framework delivery environments.

About the Water and Highways Business Unit
Our Water team designs, builds, and maintains vital UK water infrastructure, ensuring secure water supply and wastewater services.
We work with major water companies to create resilient facilities, reduce flood risks, and improve environmental outcomes. Currently, we participate in the Welsh Water AMP7 and AMP8 frameworks and have secured projects with Wessex Water for the next five years. These long-term framework agreements are part of a national £88 billion investment, requiring a collaborative and agile approach to meet the industry's challenges.
We are also actively bidding works with Other Water and Environment Frameworks
Our Highways team delivers comprehensive services, from major national projects to local schemes, improving road journeys for millions daily.
With expertise in tunnelling, bridges, and more, we provide end-to-end project support, including design, integration, and construction. Current projects include concrete road replacements for National Highways and the Scheme Delivery Framework again for National Highways

Key Qualifications & Candidate Profile
- Relevant technical qualifications in Construction Management, Commercial Surveying, or relevant technical trade.
- Proven track record operating on UK construction sites or major infrastructure frameworks.
- Knowledge of UK health, safety, and environmental standards (CDM regulations, CSCS, IOSH/NEBOSH).
- Strong communication, team coordination, and problem-solving abilities.
Compensation & Benefits Guidance
Estimated Remuneration: GBP £42,000 - £60,000 per annum (competitive market rate commensurate with experience)
