We are seeking an exceptional Project Director to lead the delivery of Wixams Station, a strategically important new-build rail infrastructure project for Network Rail.
This newly created role presents a unique opportunity to take ownership of one of the UK's most significant station developments from its early design stages through to successful handover. As Project Director, you will provide overall strategic direction, leadership and governance, ensuring the project is delivered safely, sustainably and efficiently while achieving key objectives for cost, programme, quality and stakeholder satisfaction.
The Opportunity
This is a high-profile leadership position requiring a proven project professional who can successfully navigate complex stakeholder environments, build high-performing teams and successfully deliver major rail infrastructure programmes.
Working closely with Network Rail and a broad range of industry partners, you will oversee the full project lifecycle, encompassing design, engineering, construction, commercial management and final handover.
Key Responsibilities
Provide overall direction, management and leadership for the delivery of Wixams Station.
Lead multidisciplinary project teams to achieve programme, cost, quality and safety targets.
Drive project governance, risk management, value engineering and continuous improvement initiatives.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with Network Rail and key project stakeholders.
Provide strategic planning, project reporting and delivery recommendations to senior leadership and clients.
Lead and challenge project budgets, forecasts and delivery strategies to ensure successful outcomes.
Champion health, safety, environmental and quality excellence across all project activities.
Motivate, develop and inspire project teams while fostering a culture of collaboration and high performance.
Identify opportunities for innovation, efficiency and business growth within the programme and wider rail portfolio.
To be successful in this role, you will bring
Significant experience delivering large-scale rail infrastructure projects, ideally including major station developments or complex multidisciplinary programmes.
A proven track record leading projects of comparable scale and complexity, ideally valued in the region of £100m+.
Outstanding leadership skills with the ability to provide clear direction in challenging and complex environments.
Strong client and stakeholder management experience within the rail sector.
Excellent commercial, programme and risk management capability.
Exceptional communication, negotiation and influencing skills at executive and client level.
Degree qualification in Civil Engineering or an equivalent discipline.
The ability to build, mentor and develop high-performing teams whilst maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality and delivery excellence

Key Qualifications & Candidate Profile
- Relevant technical qualifications in Construction Management, Commercial Surveying, or relevant technical trade.
- Proven track record operating on UK construction sites or major infrastructure frameworks.
- Knowledge of UK health, safety, and environmental standards (CDM regulations, CSCS, IOSH/NEBOSH).
- Strong communication, team coordination, and problem-solving abilities.
Compensation & Benefits Guidance
Estimated Remuneration: GBP £95,000 - £1,35,000 per annum (competitive market rate commensurate with experience)
