We are currently looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join our growing team, supporting the early contractor involvement (ECI) phase of a major nuclear infrastructure programme at Sellafield. This is a fantastic opportunity to join at the beginning of a significant long-term framework, where you will play a key commercial role and have excellent opportunities for career development as the programme progresses.
Reporting initially to the Commercial Manager, you will take commercial responsibility for one or more major projects, helping to drive commercial success while supporting the delivery of a nationally significant infrastructure programme.
Role Responsibilities
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial management and successful delivery of one or more major infrastructure projects.
Key responsibilities will include
Taking full commercial responsibility for the delivery of assigned projects.
Assisting with the development and validation of project estimates and forecasts.
Managing the procurement, administration, and commercial performance of subcontract packages.
Preparing and managing monthly applications for payment and associated client reporting requirements.
Producing accurate and timely internal commercial reporting, including Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs).
Administering contracts and managing compensation events, variations and change control processes.
Supporting project teams to identify commercial risks and opportunities and implementing appropriate mitigation strategies.
Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
Ensuring compliance with contractual obligations, company procedures, and governance requirements.
Supporting and mentoring apprentices, graduates, and junior commercial team members.
Contributing to the successful commercial delivery of projects throughout the project lifecycle.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
Previous experience working in a Quantity Surveying or commercial management role within infrastructure, engineering, or construction projects.
Demonstrable experience managing the commercial aspects of projects valued at £10 million+.
Strong understanding of subcontract procurement, administration, and contract management.
Experience preparing CVRs, cost reporting and commercial forecasts.
Knowledge of change management and contract administration processes.
Strong commercial awareness with the ability to identify and manage risk and opportunity.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel.
Experience working on major infrastructure or nuclear projects.
Knowledge of NEC forms of contract.
Experience within the early contractor involvement (ECI) phase of projects.
Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline.
Working towards or holding professional membership with RICS, ICES or a similar professional body.

Key Qualifications & Candidate Profile
- Relevant technical qualifications in Construction Management, Commercial Surveying, or relevant technical trade.
- Proven track record operating on UK construction sites or major infrastructure frameworks.
- Knowledge of UK health, safety, and environmental standards (CDM regulations, CSCS, IOSH/NEBOSH).
- Strong communication, team coordination, and problem-solving abilities.
Compensation & Benefits Guidance
Estimated Remuneration: GBP £45,000 - £65,000 per annum (competitive market rate commensurate with experience)
